What is Meta-engineering?

Meta-engineering can be taken in different ways. The word “meta” has three meanings. One meaning is what is beyond the subject, i.e. beyond engineering. Another meaning is what is above engineering, in the sense of logically above in the sense of meta-languages about whatever is the next level down. In this sense it would be the engineering of engineering, and that could generate various meta-levels of engineering. Another meaning is something that has control over something else, that is what ever controls engineering, such as program management. We will consider meta-engineering in all these senses. But the meaning of “beyond” is apropos to the duality between system and meta-system in the sense I develop in my General Schemas Theory, see http://holonomic.net. In this sense meta-engineering would be the engineering of the meta-system, or any of the schemas beyond the system schema, i.e. any of the higher schemas like meta-system (open-scape), domain, world, kosmos, and pluriverse.
